Sorry, it will be a rather short report this week. The visit of LUFC alumni Rod Fewtrell and Dave Lamotte was a pleasant distraction for me.
Sharpey was hit with more unavailability this week and the ressies still had to call on some vets to help out. Lewis Hill and Harry Gidders stepped up and, although we lost, they didn’t let us down!
We started with a few nervy passes and Bailey and Dan were put under pressure early on but both recovered ok. El found Max with a free kick but his header was straight to the keeper. 28 minutes of relatively even play ended when Marcus picked up a loose ball on the left of the Seasiders area, rounded a defender (as he does) and made room for a right foot shot to put us ahead. 1 – 0
5 minutes later, after a Webbo error, Tipps blocked a shot, the ball fell to the right of our area and a simple pass across our 6 yard box was finished with a simple tap in at the far post with one or two of our defenders watching on. 1 – 1
Wells curled in a dangerous corner which hit a Loddon player’s back and fell to Bailey who cleared. Marcus was then off target with another shot. El put Bailey under pressure at the back but Lewis covered well to get a foot in to block the shot. Bailey blocked another inswinging corner before Wells shot wide. Tipps took a long throw from the left, we got a flick on and it looked like Harv missed a sitter from close in, the ball coming off a post and claimed by the grateful keeper. Tipps made a timely intervention and clearance before the break. HT
Although I watched the second half from the patio, I didn’t take much in as I was entertaining royalty. The ball flitted around and we seemed to allow Wells to take the upper hand. Indeed they got the winner halfway through the half via a long ball, the bounce of which deceived Dan and another easy finish to put Wells ahead. 1 – 2
Max made way for Cameron but we were unable to get back into the game.
So Wells took home all three points and claimed their third victory from three games against us this season!
Many thanks to Pete ‘The Kit Man’ Dye for his kind match sponsorship. Sorry we couldn’t find a better result for you.
Match sponsors ‘Musker MOM’ was given to Bailey Hill

Great to see ‘double hattrick’ Rod Fewtrell and ‘multiclub’ Dave Lamotte attend the game. Nothing like a good reminisce eh boys?
Thanks to Wells crew who all stopped to enjoy the après footy refreshment. Thanks too to Jay and his team.

Next week we host East Harling, 2.15pm ko, sponsored by ‘Perk Accounting’
